Sense Project

So today in college Mairéad had us sit in groups and brainstorm words for each individual sense... we then put all the sheets on the wall and picked our favourite word from each sense.. just a word that simply appealed yo us for no particular reason. my five words were:

Touch - Sticky
Smell - Damp
Sight - Silhouette
Hear - Ringing
Taste - Acidic

We then narrowed it down to three and the three I picked are Sticky, Silhouette and Acidic. After this we went back to our groups and went through each persons word and came up with action words that fit to these words and then we discussed it at as a class. Some of the words I found the most interesting are:

Slippery - Pouring, Spilling, Dropping, Icing, Raining, Throwing, Moving, Passing, Breaking.
Silhouette - Tracing, Stencilling, Printing, Shadowing, Lighting, Moving, Shaping.
Acidic - Bleaching, Spilling, Melting, Bubbling, Peeling, Erupting, Dissolving.

And now the fun starts. we start developing swatches that apply to these senses, we find artists/designers/scientists that have investigated these processes and then a garment (not particularly high fashion) that fits into our theme.

I really like this way of brainstorming, you give people ideas and I got alot of ideas from other people :)
